We loved our tour with Ocean Adventures yesterday. It really is a family owned and run business, we met the whole family! So many puffins, seabirds, seals and a pair of white tailed eagles not to mention the island sheep 😉 They were so knowledgeable about every bird we saw, and the fact I can’t remember the names of them all tells you how many we saw! He is an expert fisherman by trade and by experience. He put us on so many cod and made sure we were all happy with our fishing experience. He caters to expert level fisherman as well as beginner novice level fisherman. Don’t get sucked into the scammers in Reykjavík. They were trying to charge me 3-4 times more than here and I’m sure the fishing wouldn’t have had nearly as much action. The road from Reykjavík to this part of the Snaefallsness Peninsula is a stunning drive and roads are in near perfect condition. It was a riot. They put us on fish for 3 hours nonstop and knew all the birds. We ate pan seared cod for dinner in our campsite tonight. Our skipper also showed us the puffins and we saw a pod of dolphins. Fish was filleted for us. We took some to the restaurant up the road to cook (Skipper - hands down the best fish and chips) and the rest we took to our accommodation (there is ice at the local supermarket if you’re driving out of town). The crew were super friendly and had great banter. They took us on a detour to see some puffins and we caught lots of fish! Big ones too. We were treated to some dolphins who came to say hi! They offered some local knowledge about their beautiful country. They were kind enough to fillet our fish and told us to take it to a local restaurant called ‘Skipper’ to have the chef cook it up for us and served on a plate of ‘fish and chips’. The whole experience is one to remember and I highly recommend you book this tour. From sea to plate and in the tummy! You can’t get any more fresh! Thank you Ocean adventures.
